EFR / CFR Requirements for ARTI

May 3, 2021 ARTI PRO Team

To be a Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT) you are required to have an Emergency First Responder Certification (EFR) from PHECC or a demonstrated equivalent as outlined in the Certification Process.

Confusion sometimes arises as to when the courses need to be refreshed. The Cardiac First Responder (CFR) certificate is a prerequisite for the EFR and is required to be refreshed every two years, with the EFR certificate being every three years.

According to PHECC: "Emergency first responders must also be committed to the process of continuous responder competence and will be required to maintain their skill levels in both CFR and EFR at defined time intervals."

Therefore, it is the responsibility of the CAT to maintain both their CFR & EFR certificates.

PHECC has advised that both must be maintained during these current times. No leeway has been extended on these particular certificates, and therefore, they must be maintained as normal.

Upcoming EFR/CFR courses are often advertised via the members eNewsletter, website Events page and the CAT Official WhatsApp.
